Busy times and introducing Max
We prepared for school and birthday parties last weekend. Hunter got to go to the cattle sale yesterday and after that Jay took both boys fishing.
We have added a male pet to our family. His name is Max. Papa Carl "adopted" him and asked if we wanted a cat. He appears to be 4-6 months old and is very friendly. He allows the boys to carry him around all the time. He is enjoying the trees when the dogs are out! Hopefully he will keep the mice away.

Summer Vacation 2009
We stayed in Ft. Walton Beach for 5 days. My stepmom flew down Sunday evening and stayed with us for 4 nights. My sister, Hanna, and I drove to Pensacola to pick up Pam and the three of us enjoyed dinner at The Fishhouse and tried the world famous Grits a Ya Ya.

While we were gone, the guys did some surfing at the beach. Hunter and Beau learned how to surf with their Uncle Chris and had a lot of fun! Grammy bought them skim boards to try out the next day. Hunter liked his, but Beau wasn't so sure of it. He had more fun building lots of sandcastles and counting them.
We spent our days relaxing at the beach and pool. And our evenings at some of our favorite places to eat. We ate at Aunt Hanna's place (as Beau likes to call it) - Hogs Breath - Monday evening. Jay and I had a nice dinner at our favorite restaurant - Old Bay Steamer - on Tuesday night. We decided to walk to the restaurant and enjoyed a romantic walk back on the beach. Wednesday we ate at a place called High Tide, because my husband wanted some good raw oysters (yum...). And Thursday we finally made it over to Hanna and Chris's house to visit with their dogs and eat pizza.
Aunt Hanna's Place
Hunter and Beau had a great time hunting for crabs in the sand at night! I think they found about 40 one night. We decided to let them all go (thank goodness!). It's fun to see all the other people out in the sand with their flashlights looking for crabs and other sea critters. Uncle Chris found some Sand Fleas and showed us how they like to dig into the sand.
Our last day of vacation, we met a nice family from southern Missouri. They have a daughter (age 11) and son (age 6). The boys played together in the pool early and then we headed to the beach after lunch. The mom said that her son would not even go into the ocean before, but after playing with our boys he decided it was okay. She was very surprised at how he changed his mind after our boys went in. I'm glad we were able to meet them and the kids play together. Too bad we didn't meet them earlier in the week, but that's usually how it goes.
We got up around 5 am Friday morning and made it back around 6 pm. The boys did wonderful on the long drive and kept busy with their DS, movies, drawings. We are glad to be home and thankful for a safe and fun trip.
